Physical Therapy Assistant Wanted at the Vassar Hospital - PR 20 hours

Monday and Friday 0730-1600 and Tuesday 0730-11

30. 2 weekend days a month. Flex Schedule.

Summary

Provides direct patient care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and assists the Physical Therapist in executing described care plans. Provides clinical instruction to Physical Therapy Assistant students. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served by the patient care department.

Responsibilities

  • 1.
  • Provides direct patient care services to ensure the effectiveness of Physical Therapy programs.
  • 2.
  • Handles an assigned patient caseload providing appropriate treatment as required.
  • 3.
  • Assists as needed, the attendant Physical Therapist in re-evaluating patient status, and in the progression of patient programming.
  • 4.
  • Prioritizes, independently, caseload and available treatment times to provide for maximum efficiency.
  • 5.
  • Utilizes correct modalities of treatment and suggests variation to written protocol if applicable.
  • 6.
  • Recognizes contraindications to continuing with scheduled treatment and consults with the responsible therapist as needed.
  • 7.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Physical Therapy procedures and equipment providing for safety and maximum patient benefit.
  • 8.
  • Performs appropriate documentation to maintain the departmental standard.
  • 9.
  • Participates in communication with other involved hospital personnel to provide for progressive and cost-efficient hospital program.
  • 10.
  • Performs other duties as needed to improve the overall effectiveness of the department as both a treatment facility and an educational environment.

Education

Requires two (2) years of college. General knowledge of a specialized or technical field normally associated with an A.A or A.S. degree.

Experience

  • Practically no prior experience required. Could rely on education and knowledge required for employment.
  • Three to six months required for learning period
  • License: Valid New York State License or eligibility with temporary permit
