- Role: Ignite Curiosity & Build Lifelong Learners As a Middle School Humanities Teacher, you will do more than teach content—you will cultivate curiosity, amplify student voice, and guide adolescents through one of the most critical stages of their development. You will design engaging, standards-based lessons that integrate literacy, history, and critical thinking, helping students make meaningful connections between the past, present, and their own lived experiences. Key Responsibilities Design Engaging Humanities Curriculum Develop and deliver rigorous, standards-aligned lessons in literacy, history, and social studies Foster critical thinking, discussion, and analytical writing skills Use diverse texts and culturally relevant materials that reflect students’ identities and experiences Differentiate instruction to support English Learners and students with diverse learning needs Create a Dynamic & Inclusive Classroom Build a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment where all students feel valued Use discussion-based, collaborative, and project-based learning strategies Promote student voice, inquiry, and curiosity through meaningful classroom experiences Implement effective classroom management practices that support positive behavior and engagement Support Student Growth & Development Monitor academic progress through formative and summative assessments Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student growth Serve as a mentor or advisor, supporting students’ social-emotional development Help students build organization, study habits, and independence as they prepare for high school Collaborate & Grow Professionally Partner with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and strengthen instruction Participate in professional development focused on middle school best practices Contribute to school-wide curriculum planning and instructional initiatives Reflect on teaching practices and use data to continuously improve student outcomes Engage Families & Community Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom experiences Participate in parent conferences, Family Nights, and school events Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and service learning Serve as a positive ambassador for the school within the community
