  • Range: $1,750.00 - $1,750.00Assistant Flag Football Coach – Middle School Girard College is looking for candidates for the position of Assistant Middle School Flag Football Coach. The assistant is responsible for assisting the head coach in teaching and training students in the game of flag football. He/she must also assist the head coach in creating a high energy, positive team culture that reflects the mission statement of the school. The applicant must have knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of football. Reports To Athletic Director Head Flag Football Coach Qualifications A bachelor’s degree is required and a minimum of three years of coaching experience on the middle school, high school, college, or professional level. The candidate must have completed the PIAA coaching education requirements at the time of hire. The candidate must possess outstanding interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with student athletes, administration, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in leading the ongoing development and improvement of his or her sport through coordinating, planning, evaluation, and implementation of programs. All coaches have the responsibility of overseeing the program in the best interest of Girard College by adhering to the policies and regulations of the Penn-Jersey Athletic Association (P.J.A.A), the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association (M.P.A.A), the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (P.A.I.S.A.A.), as well as the practices and procedures of the school administration.

  • Skills: Have knowledge and experience coaching offensive and defensive line techniques. Have knowledge and experience in strength and conditioning training. Be able to recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes for admission into high school. Be able to implement the practice plans designed by the head coach. Be able to motivate, teach and enforce sportsmanship. Be able to effectively communicate team rules to players and families. Be able to always model sportsmanship. Be able to work in an educational environment and maintain a relationship with school administrators, teachers, parents, and students. Be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time and possibly work outdoors in inclement weather conditions. Be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

  • Duties: Assisting the head coach in organizing practice plans, and strategies for opponents. Assisting with monitoring the student-athlete’s academic progress and performance. Running skill-building drills that emphasize the fundamentals of flag football. Responsible for player development for team members. Responsible for cleaning, storage, and care of team equipment. Responsible for team well-being during practice and games, keeping athletes safe and healthy. Follow the care plan of the Athletic Trainer for injured student-athletes. Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to the players before the season. Also, collect all uniforms and equipment at the end of the season. Assist in transporting the team to games. Maintain appropriate conduct toward students, officials, and spectators. Exhibit non-discriminatory practices in all team and school activities. Attend staff meetings when called by the Athletic Director.

  • In-Season: The season lasts 8 to 10 weeks but could go to 12 weeks if the team makes the playoffs. Coaches are expected to be available for two hours per day, Monday – Friday for practice, and Saturday if necessary. In addition, coaches are required to attend all scheduled home and away games.
  • Off-Season: Coaches are expected to hold workouts during the off season with approval from the Athletic Director.
