Job description

Overview The Social Worker II provides clinical social work services to students and their families and develops Mental Health Individual Education Program (IEP) goals and implements those goals as outlined. The incumbent serves as a social work role and training model to graduate social work and counseling trainees and interdisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities

Provides social work services to students, including psychosocial assessment and treatment/interventions, including but not limited to individual and group therapy, case management services and family therapy if needed. Participates in interdisciplinary school committees. Provides appropriate documentation according to departmental guidelines, including but not limited to required Individual Education Program (IEP) documentation, progress notes, and psychosocial assessments. Collaborates with team to develop Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavioral Intervention Plans, and reports for outside agencies. Functions effectively within a multidisciplinary team by advocating for client needs; participating actively in team plans; and using clear, concise, and assertive communication in written and oral form. Demonstrates a competent approach to crisis management including clinical and any necessary administrative follow-up. Appropriately document crisis intervention forms as required by interdepartmental guidelines. Maintains working relationships with staff, students and their families, interdisciplinary and interagency representatives, Institute staff, and visitors. Considers cultural factors in treatment planning for students and in working with their families.

Qualifications

Must possess and maintain a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) license issued by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Board of Social Work Examiners. Must possess and maintain educator license as a school social worker issued by Maryland State Department of Education. Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training will be provided by the department, according to the individual program requirements. Employee must achieve and maintain certification (at the “Practitioner” level or higher for PCM) according to the timeline established within the departmental policy. EDUCATION: Master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work is required. EXPERIENCE: Previous clinical experience in the provision of services to children and adolescents with developmental, learning and/or emotional disabilities required. This experience can be satisfied through internships or job placements. Minimum pay range USD $66,562.00/Yr. Maximum pay range USD $92,505.00/Yr.
