The Altamont School’s mission is to improve the fabric of society by graduating compassionate, well-educated individuals capable of independent thinking and innovative ideas. We seek supportive employees who are lifelong learners and model that for our students. Essential Functions Using the provided teacher’s materials, instruct Integrated Math I, II and Statistics. Implement lesson plans that cover the coursework typically taught by the teacher in the first semester. Ensures objectives are met through effective teaching, high expectations, and sound learning in an inclusive, engaging classroom environment. Utilize technological modalities and hands-on laboratory work and research to further lesson effectiveness. Monitor, document, and assess student progress, maintaining close communication with parents and appropriate school personnel. Provides students with feedback, critiques, encouragement, and support. Consistently assessing student achievement through formal and informal assessments. Has strong classroom management skills for effectively monitoring student behavior. Support the mission, policies, and practices of The Altamont School. QualificationsPreferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in math or math related field. Ideally has an education background with general knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Ideally has prior teaching experience. Flexibility, organization, decision making and problem-solving skills. Has strong communication (verbal and written), public relations, and interpersonal skills. Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of students. Experience using a variety of technology tools in the educational setting. Must be proficient with the Microsoft suite. Instructs students, while managing their behavior, during classes and class related activities. Knowledge of effective classroom management strategies is a must.
