Job summary
DuBois Integrity Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary Spanish Teacher to introduce and develop students’ Spanish language skills in a fun and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will create and implement lessons that align with state and district standards, fostering language acquisition, cultural appreciation, and global awareness among young learners.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging Spanish lesson plans that align with state and district standards, incorporating listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities.
- Create an immersive language-learning environment by incorporating interactive activities, songs, games, and storytelling to enhance student engagement.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback, differentiated instruction, and support to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date grade books, tracking student progress, assessments, and participation in accordance with school policies and grading guidelines.
- Foster cultural appreciation and global awareness by integrating Hispanic and Latin American cultures, traditions, and history into lessons.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to integrate Spanish language instruction into interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and confidence in learning a new language.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and ways to support language learning at home.
- Organize and participate in school-wide cultural events, performances, or language activities that celebrate Spanish-speaking cultures.
- Stay current with best practices in world language education by participating in professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in GA or ability to obtain one.
- Proficiency in Spanish, both written and spoken.
- Experience teaching Spanish at the elementary level is preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to create engaging and developmentally appropriate language-learning experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with language immersion or dual-language programs.
- Knowledge of ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) proficiency standards.
- Experience using technology to enhance language learning.
Working conditions
