Bambini Montessori Academy - Gambrills

Position Summary

The Center Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting both classroom and administrative operations within Bambini Montessori Academy. Working closely with the Director and Assistant Director, this position helps ensure smooth daily operations, supports best practices in early childhood education, and ensures compliance with Maryland licensing requirements. The Specialist assists teachers, maintains ratios, and contributes to a nurturing learning environment.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Support classroom staff in maintaining a calm, prepared environment that encourages independence and positive learning experiences.
  • Step into classrooms as needed to maintain Maryland-required teacher–child ratios.
  • Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organization, and general teaching support.
  • Provide instructional and behavioral support and assist in observation and documentation.
  • Support onboarding of new staff regarding classroom routines and center procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including attendance, documentation, supply management, and communication.
  • Support scheduling, ratio monitoring, and overall daily center operations.
  • Participate in professional development, family events, and Maryland EXCELS initiatives.
  • Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and positive team collaboration.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Maryland Teacher Qualification or active progress toward MSDE certification.
  • 90-Hour Preschool Certification and/or 90-Hour Infant & Toddler Certification (or enrollment in progress).
  • Coursework, training, or a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
  • Completion of Maryland OCC-required trainings, including: – Breastfeeding Awareness – Basic Health & Safety– Child Care Emergency Preparedness – Medication Administration (if applicable) – All additional MSDE/OCC mandatory trainings
  • Classroom experience in early childhood education preferred.
  • Understanding of child development and willingness to learn Montessori-based practices.
  • Ability to move between classrooms, lift up to 40 lbs., and actively supervise children.
  • Must meet all Maryland OCC background checks, health screenings, and ongoing training requirements.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.

Position Structure

Reports to the Director and Assistant Director and supports classroom staff and center operations. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, developmentally appropriate environment while ensuring program compliance.
