Position Summary

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a 504 coordinator at Oregon Connections Academy.
  • From our office in Prairie City, OR or from your home office within the state, the 504 coordinator works collaboratively with teachers and counselors, to administer, monitor, and implement 504 plans.
  • The 504 coordinator serves as the liaison between counselors, teachers, and families, and facilitates meetings with all required stakeholders.
  • The 504 Coordinator is responsible for training staff in the requirements of Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the preparation of compliance documents for students eligible for Section 504 Services.
  • The 504 Coordinator ensures district compliance with all state, federal, and district 504 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Adopt of amend 504 plans for all new students within 30 days of enrollment
  • Schedule and host new 504 meetings. Include all stakeholders (teachers, counselor, parent etc).
  • Ensure meetings are scheduled in a timely manner for 504s in need of review.
  • Develop and implement training for school staff in the identification of students eligible for Section 504 services.
  • Develop and implement training for teachers on implementation of instructional accommodations.
  • Assists school level administrators to ensure implementation of Section 504 accommodations.
  • Post meeting, ensures all Section 504 documentation is uploaded to the learning management system within 48 hours.
  • Ensures each 504 plan is accurate and has a parent signature.
  • Conducts consistent system-wide audits to ensure compliance.
  • Provides testing accommodations to the state testing team before testing dates.
  • Maintains forms, reports, and provides data as required.
  • Maintains thorough documentation regarding any escalated concerns.
  • Attends relevant professional development.
  • Serves as counseling department liaison with the district compliance team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
  • Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances and integrate into different school environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and certification in general education (elementary or secondary), special education, counseling or social work. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 3- years teaching or counseling experience
  • Prefer experience in Section 504 leadership
  • Experience with computer-based documentation systems is required
  • Knowledge of Section 504 laws as well as local policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of technology
  • Knowledge of, and experience implementing, instructional accommodations
  • Knowledge of state assessment accommodations
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Skilled in working with computer platforms, including but not limited to, Google apps, Word documents and spreadsheets
  • Skilled in working in collaborative team-based environments
  • Skilled in working with, and presenting, to diverse populations of students, parents, and staff
  • Exercise good judgment in decision-making, especially in difficult circumstances
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
