Summary

Responsible for the instruction of swimming lessons and other water related programs and activities.

Essential

Duties: and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager, the Swim Instructor’s duties will include:
  • Conduct and/or assist Aquatics programs and activities and develop, implement and evaluate new programs and activities for MTA’s members
  • Follow the Standard Operating Procedures for conducting swim lessons and water- related programs
  • Conduct and assist in aquatics programs and activities
  • Suggest seminars/workshops/training that the Swim Instructor can attend to further develop his/her skills
  • Continuously seek, evaluate and implement new methods which would improve the efficiency and productivity of the Swim Instructor position
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Aquatics Manager

Skills/Knowledge

  • Must be personable, patient, tolerant, tactful, assertive and self-motivated
  • Must have the abilities to plan, organize, promote, conduct, supervise, and evaluate programs

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Experience in supervising, developing and programming preferred

Communication Skills

  • Must be well versed in the English language
  • Must be articulate, able to communicate well, possess good writing skills and must have basic computer skills

Reasoning Ability

  • Must be able to deal with difficult people and situations, communicate effectively, and handle different types of situations tactfully and with professional demure
  • Must have a responsible attitude for the health and safety of participants and staff

Certificates and License

• Must possess current American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR certification and maintain such certification and license current thereafter
