- Overview: Our Fellow positions are geared toward individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in education, have a college degree, and have experience working with children from an urban population in some capacity. Fellows will work under the direction of a lead teacher in providing another layer of support to students, they are responsible for bringing significant and lasting change to the classroom and the school and fully engaging in professional development activities.
- Reports To: Fellows will report to the principal of the campus assigned or his/her designee. Responsibilities and Duties Bring about significant and lasting change in my classroom(s) and school by: Assisting in building a classroom culture that demonstrates the principles of biliteracy, sustainability, authentic inquiry, and Habits of Community Stewardship Participating in student evaluations such as one-on-one reading evaluations Providing one-on-one, small group instruction and individualized support to students Participating in the Responsive Classroom and Restorative Practices philosophy for creating a community of learners and managing the classroom Embracing and fostering inclusion and equity in the classroom and upholding high expectations for all students Collaborating with classroom lead teachers in planning meetings and supporting instruction Providing support to the grade level team as needed
- Fully engage in professional development activities by: Engaging in weekly school wide weekly professional development meetings, weekly Fellow Team meetings, weekly check-ins with Lead teacher and other professional development as appropriate Participating in grade‐level meetings and inclusion conversations as necessary Demonstrating a growth mindset that is receptive to feedback Carrying out a gradual release continuum as part of a professional development plan Assume substitute lead teacher responsibilities as necessary Community Wide Support Required to attend pre-planned evening events throughout the year such as Student Led Conferences, Expo, family home visits, etc. Expected to attend family / community events such as orientation, prospective parent info sessions, family potlucks, etc. Other duties as assigned.

- Verde's core hours of operations are 8:00 to 4:30pm when students are in the building.. Fellows in PK-Kinderganten support one lead teacher and a reasonable class size, historically between a class of 20-25 students per cohort. PK and K fellows are placed in full-immersion Spanish classrooms.

QualificationsQualifications, Skills and Values Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education. One year of experience working with children ages 3-12(i.e. tutoring, camp, after school) required, it is a plus if experience in a school setting. An interest in exploring the possibility of a teaching career. Advanced or native proficiency in Spanish required to teach in Spanish or bilingual classrooms. Bilingual preferred for all English classroom positions but not required. Urban teaching experience preferred. Experience working with special needs students in an inclusive setting, preferred. Ability to work as a member of a team, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to their own learning.
