About the Role

  • The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by providing personalized support and assistance.
  • This position focuses on fostering independence and promoting community integration for people we support, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and opportunities.
  • The DSP will work closely with people to develop and implement individualized care plans that address their unique needs and goals.
  • By building trusting relationships, the DSP will empower people to make choices and engage in meaningful activities.
  • Ultimately, the DSP's efforts contribute to a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and enhances overall well-being.
  • The tools you need
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be available to attend the 2.5 week hourly paid-training program during the hours of 8am-5pm

Expectations

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Certification in PA DPW Medication Administration
  • Knowledge of local community resources and support services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct assistance to people in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Support people in developing and achieving personal goals through skill-building and community engagement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of peoples' progress and any changes in their needs or behaviors.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create and update individualized support plans.
  • Facilitate social interactions and community involvement to promote inclusion and enhance social skills.
