- Work Shift Day (United States of America) Job Summary: A Physical Therapy Resident (PTR) is a physical therapist participating in a postgraduate training program and is expected to complete the program within twelve months.
- Requirements include clinical hours treating patients, participating in mentoring sessions, didactic education, and other various educational opportunities.
- The PTR also has the same general duties and responsibilities as other physical therapists.
- Responsibilities include providing direct care to patients with varied diagnoses and supervising rehabilitation technicians, volunteers, and students.
- Caseloads may consist of patient care across the lifespan in varied practice settings.
- Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Patient Treatment - Implements treatment plan utilizing current theory and practice; works towards established goals; modifies goals and treatment plan as necessary and indicated.
- Documents treatment plan according to department policy and bills for services.
- Coordinates appropriate follow up post-discharge from care.
- Patient Assessment - Performs functions related to patient evaluation/re-evaluation, goal setting, and discharge planning according to department policy and procedures.
- Documents findings according to department policy and bills for services.
- Ensures findings are shared with appropriate individuals and provides necessary follow up.
- Education - The incumbent will provide a positive learning environment for observers, volunteers, students, and co-workers.
- Willingly accepts learners and ensures learning objectives are achieved.
- Provides learning opportunities for department staff on topics related to clinical specialty.
- Productivity - Meets departmental productivity standards.
- Takes initiative to ensure that established productivity standard is met on an ongoing and regular basis.
- Takes an active role in servicing patients with immediate needs.
- Documents productivity in a timely manner.
- Required Minimum Education: Doctorate Physical Therapy Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
